I love creating with my girls. We have an entire room in our old house dedicated to creating. They have their own space, which usually looks like a tornado blew through it. lol I wanted to share a kid sized canvas apron that I created with Arianna. We had so much fun creating it.
There is a full tutorial over on the Tattered Angels Blog! This month we are celebrating crafting that is so easy even kids can do it.
To see the full project click on my post on the Tattered Angels Blog. Please leave a comment there and let me know what you think, and what ideas you have for more kids projects!
supplies: Tattered Angels, Canvas Corp, Want2Scrap, Donna Downey Foam Stamps, Pink Paislee Wood Letters.
Thanks so much!
Happy Independence Day!

I am so excited to be a part of the Sneak Peek: Spellbinders™ Summer Spectacular Blog Frenzy! The die reveals and artworks have been amazing, and I am always so inspired with creative energy whenever Spellbinders has Blog Frenzy.
I have created something a little different for you today. I knew I'd be wrapping up the week, and wanted to leave you with a way to take your paper crafting to a new level. So, I created this altered book home décor piece for you.
Books are a passion of mine. I read them, store them, collect them, and yes, even love the smell of their old musty pages. Creating a piece of art, out of a recycled book, really fascinates me, and I have always wanted to try it.
I must admit the thought of tearing up or carving into a book sounds almost sinful to me.....but then I found that my local library has a book sale of all the old, damaged, and worn out books. There might be coloring or writing in them, water stains or missing pages....now these are perfect for art projects! And that is how this project idea came to fruition.

~ INSTRUCTIONS ~
To Glue Your Book Pages:
Begin by sectioning off your book. Flip through the first few pages and open your book. Wrap the cover and those pages in a large Ziploc bag to keep them protected. Close your book and adjust the pages so that they are lined up vertically. Paint Sparkle Mod Podge on the pages you want to seal, using a foam brush. Saturate the edges of the pages so they will hold together firmly when dry. Wipe off any excess Mod Podge. Place a heavy object on your book, (I used my coffee maker) and allow to dry about an hour.
Carving Your Book:
Use a metal edge ruler and a pen to mark where you want to cut into your book. Don't worry about the pen marks showing at this point. A small hole should be drilled in each corner using a hand drill. (My hubby made quick work of this for me using a small drill bit). This prevents you from having to cut perfect corners with a box cutter!
Use a box cutter to cut through several book pages at once. Always use the metal edge ruler each time you cut, and make sure to apply even pressure with the blade cutting straight down. (Cutting at an angle with create very jagged pages that taper down.) Continue to cut down through the book leaving about a ¼" of pages. I used a craft knife to cut out one of the front pages from the book, and cut/embossed a window out of it using Romantic Rectangles. I adhered this to top layer in my book to cover the pen marks and create a more finished look.
Glimmer Misting and Painting Your Book:
I traced the front and back book covers onto patterned paper, and trimmed to size. Then I painted several coats of Stilleto Glimmer Glam on the spine of the book, and allowed it to dry. I adhered the patterned paper to the covers.
I used Patina Glimmer Mist on the front cover and inside pages. The pages on the left side of the book were adhered together and a stick pin was inserted into the top. I adhered bling on each side of the open book.
A manilla shipping tag was used as a template to trace and create a patterned paper tag. I painted Tide Pool Glimmer Glam on the tag, and allowed it to dry. You can use several coats to deepend the color. A fan brush works fabulously to pick up the extra glitter in the bottle. I like to air dry this paint, as heating with a heat tool will cause it to bubble.
Adding Venetian Accents & Venetian Motifs die cuts:
I cut/embossed the medallion out of black cardstock and silver craft foil, layered them, but off-set them slightly to create dimension. Wax paper was placed in between the foil and the die template to help the die cut release quickly from the die template.
I also cut and embossed the border out of black cardstock and silver premium craft foil. These were layers and adhered along the front of the book cover.
I cut and embossed the mask out of teal cardstock, then painted it with Chandelier Glimmer Glam. Once it was dry, I bent it slightly with my fingers to create a 3D mask. These were adhered to the book cover as well.
The medallion was cut/embossed out of silver craft foil in the Grand Calibur® machine, and the embellishments were added to the center, and backed with black cardstock.
The mask and swirl were cut/embossed out of black cardstock and painted with chandelier glimmer glam as well, then adhered to the top and bottom of the carved space.
I hope I've inspired you to see your Spellbinders™ die templates in a whole new way. The variations on this book art are limitless when you change the theme & die templates.
I wanted to share a second project I created....my Paris Card.
The swirl in the Venetian Accents and Venetian Motifs is just breath taking, and I really wanted to show it off on this card.
The Venetian Accents and Venetian Motifs are perfect to use in elaborate and simpler projects alike!

Canvas is one of my favorite mediums! Canvas Corp makes the most brilliant canvas pieces, that are just begging to be misted and stenciled with Tattered Angels paint products. Of course I threw in some ribbon and bling as well ;)
Please click on over to the Tattered Angels Blog and see my Misted and Stenciled Canvas Pillow. It measures 14" square, and is the perfect addition to my little upstairs guest apartment.
It was really easy to make. You can view the tutorial here!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
I hear it's been difficult to leave a comment on the Tattered Angels blog today, so I'm putting the final pictures of the project in here for you to see! Sorry about the technical difficulties over there.
I hope you're having a fabulous weekend.

I am really loving how beautifully Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist looks on canvas. It's such a soft look and worked perfectly with the vintage look I was going for.
I created these Canvas Envelope and Canvas Postcards, and attached a manilla shipping tag with a few of my favorite quotes.
I am a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor by day, and I often find that I have written inspriational quotes on stickies and put them around my office. Quotes really ground me and keep me focused.
This is the Canvas Envelope. I used a Tattered Angels stencil and layed that down on the canvas, then misted Tokyo Glimmer Mist over it. I misted again in areas that I wanted to have a darker shade. You really get some beautiful dimension that way.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I really appreciate all my blog readers so much! I have the flu tonight and just had to get this post written and post on the Tattered Angels Blog.
It's amazing that even when I'm sick I love to share and create art. You all inspire me so, and keep me going. Thank you for that.
Hugs

It's the second day of the Heidi Swapp Design Challenge. Heidi selected an assortment of supplies from Heidi Swapp products, Tattered Angels, Canvas Corp and 7 Gypsies and asked us to create two projects using our own style.
I'm so excited to share my take on Heidi Swapp Color Magic Memory Files. They come in white with several resist patterns on them. You can mist, paint, ink, chalk, and spray your favorite mediums on these files to give them a truly unique look. I used a ton of Glimmer Mist and Chalkboard Mist on my projects. Here are the colors that were in my supply box ~ Myrtle Chalkboard Mist; Woven Burlap Glimmer Mist and Tokyo Glimmer Mist.
I absolutely adore the idea of creating something along the lines of a mini album out of layering several Color Magic Memory Files.
We recently heard about a puppy and her sister who needed a foster family. They were in a shelter and set to be euthanized in about 5 days if they were not pulled out of the shelter. The word spread through Facebook, and I talked my husband into letting us foster this darling puppy. So many volunteers pitched in to save numerous animals that day, and to drive them across two states to foster families and people who wanted to adopt them. It was an amazing feat that was pulled together within a few days.
Well, the minute I set eyes on this puppy I was doomed to fall in love with her. She was very quiet, shy, timid and scared. It didn't take long for her to warm up to us, and I think my husband Aaron fell in love with her first. We could not even think of letting this sweet baby girl go. Our daughters named her Willow after a Native American Medicine Woman they read about in a book. Love that.
Willow was about 3 months old when we got her. So I used a wooden "3" on the canvas corp canvas flower.
We took her to the park often, and I spent many hours shooting photographs of her playing and enjoying her new family.
Willow's story is handwritten on the manilla tags, and tucked into the 7Gypies envelopes.
I misted, layered and painted pieces of the Memory File Album with Chandelier Glimmer Glam. It gives it such a sparkle and shimmer.
I couldn't resist using Spellbinders Large Labels to create a little flip album that I layered with photo's of Willow, and then adhered Color Magic Banners to the back of them.
I created a large pocket behind the mini flip album, so that we could tuck more journaling manilla tags or photographs inside.
supplies: Heidi Swapp Color Magic Memory Files, Heidi Swapp Color Magic Banners; Heidi Swapp No Limits Destination Pennants; Canvas Corp Canvas Flower, Canvas Corp black twine; 7Gypsies Paper Tape Postale, 7Gypsies Postale Envelopes, Cards and Mini Envelopes; Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Chalkboard Mist and Chandelier Glimmer Glam; Spellbinders Large Labels; Want2Scrap Classy Corners - Gracy by Nina Brackett; Scalloped Velvet Trim, adhesive, black ink.
I hope you've enjoyed my Memory File project, and hearing the story of my little Willow puppy.
Please click on over the Heidi Swapp's blog to see my second project for the Design Challenge!
Here's a little peek at my project.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!! I really appreciate it!

Welcome to the Quietfire Design Garden Delights Blog Buzz!
Quietfire Design would like to introduce you to their new Spring selection of rubber stamps!
I used Garden Delights stamp set to create this Garden Tag.
I started with a manilla tag, stamped and heat embossed the Bee stamps on the tag. Then I misted with Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer mist and wiped off the excess to allow the heat embossed Bees to show through. They almost work like a resist. I love the effect.
I stamped the QuietFire Design on white cardstock and aligned the Spellbinders Labels and Tags die template around the quote, then cut/embossed. I also used Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms, misted with Chalkboard Glimmer Mist and painted with Chandelier Glimmer Glam. I added tulle, bling, buttons, a stick pin, twine, Say It With Pearls by Want2Scrap and more Glimmer Glam.
This was a really fun project. I love how elegant QuietFire Design stamps are. I hope you'll stop by their blog and take a look at all their gorgeous creations.

May 5th is officially National Scrapbooking Day! I just had to create a Scrapbook Page for my blog today. I'm also giving away a brand new set of Spellbinders Paper Arts Decorative Dress Forms die templates!
I created this Scrapbook Page, just for me. No deadlines, no directed themes, no products to feature.....just creating with my favorite things for pure enjoyment. I can't tell you how long it has been that I have been able to create like this. I just haven't had the time. It's so freeing, and really helps the creative process to just be able to create for yourself. Don't get me wrong, I love creating for companies of course, but I have recently changed the work I do for some companies, and it's been such a wonderful change.
I find that I reach for my favorite products time and time again. I also realized that my favorite products are usually the companies I design for. That's why I design for them, they make products that fit my style and sense of creativity. Funny how I'm drawn to them, and they in turn are drawn to me.
I love to distress, ink, stamp, layer, and then add a touch of bling. Want2Scrap makes the most beautiful bling ever. I used the new and Beautiful Bling Borders - Fancy That designed by Nina Brackett. OMG have you seen their new Iphone cases with bling? Eeeack!!
The lovely stamp is a new release called Garden Delights by QuietFire Designs. Suzanne Cannon designs these lovely stamps, and I just can't get over how beautiful the quotes and the fonts are. So gorgeous.
The paper is My Mind's Eye - Miss Caroline. I love the feminine look, with a bit of a rustic Wyoming look. I distressed the edges, added some ink and used Spellbinders Paper Arts Jar Labels designed by Becky Fleck. I love to hide die cuts to create the look of a tab.
Adding tiny buttons by Buttons Galore, and using your own handwriting with a Copic black AtYou Spica glitter pen, really adds some fun details to this layout.
Velvet ribbon, decorative stick pins, and of course several Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms were added to finish off this layout.
Bitty Blossoms were colored to match this layout perfectly by cutting them out of pure white cardstock, then misting them with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. I love being able to make my own embellishments, and getting that perfect color match and shimmer.
I hope you've enjoyed the Scrapbook Page, learning about my creative process, and hearing about all the details......now on to the Giveaway!
I will randomly choose a reader that is subscribed to all my channels. So, make sure you are a subscriber to Wild Wyoming Art Cafe' (my blog), My Facebook Page, Twitter Account, Pinterest Account and YouTube Channel by Sunday May 6, 2012 at midnight mst.
I will email the winner on Monday May 7th. (You'll have 24hrs to respond, or I'll have to choose another winner. )
That's all there is to it! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.
Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
Hugs
Holly

Blending Tattered Angels misting products is one of my favorite techniques. It's so basic, yet so affective. I love to mist with one color and lightly mist another color along the edge of the first color. They bleed and blend so beautifully.
Here's a layout I created using Canvas Corp 12x12 Corrugated Paper in white. It's a perfect base to apply Tattered Angels paint products. I love the Canvas Corp black twine. I also used Tattered Angels stamps, Pink Paislee resist paper and Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms and Wings of Hope die templates.
Plain Jane is the focus and layered Plain Jane Simply Sheer Teal, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Shade, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Taupe, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Yellow, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Red, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Light Blue, Baseboard Gravel. I painted the heart with Stained Glass in Green.
Be sure to download the catalog to see all the amazing new Tattered Angels products.
Canvas Corp has some incredible new papers that are absolutely perfect for Tattered Angels paint products. I really love the kraft and black series. I started making 2 cards, then kept creating to make a set of 4 cards.
For these 2 cards I used: Plain Jane Simply Sheer in Yellow, Simply Sheer in Teal and Light Blue.
I also used Spellbinders Jewel Goddess, Jewel Keys and Office Supplies. I love how they turned out, with layers of Tattered Angels paint products on them.
Here is the second set of cards using layers of Glimmer Mist, Canvas Corp paper and twine, as well as Spellbinders die templates and Want2Scrap Bling.
Thanks so much for taking the time to take a look at my Tattered Angels projects!
Please pop on over to the Tattered Angels Blog and leave me a comment over there.
I'd really appreciate it.
Hugs
