My Little Mackenzie Layout

I created this layout for the Spellbinders Blog.  I took this picture of Mackenzie during the Mid-Winter Blue Grass Festival we attended a few weeks ago.  I love how she smiles when she plays her guitar.

Valentine Layout

I had such an amazing time at CHA!  I have pictures to go through and show you, but today, I wanted to share a layout that was totally inspired by all the creative energy that is abundant at CHA.

I created this layout using Spellbinders die templates, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Layers of Color stamps.

I took the photo of Aaron and I when we lived in Iowa.  I love sepia toned photographs. I used My Mind's Eye  patterned paper and WorldWin paper throughout.

I used several of the new Spellbinders Winter Release die templates.  I think I used a total of 8 die templates.  

I also found a new favorite color of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Vanilla Breeze - Oh My Yum!  

I have also fallen in love with Layers of Color stamp The Love Chapter stamp set Illustrated by Nina Brackett.  I loved it from the first time I saw it, and Nina was kind enough to help me acquire a set at CHA.

Altering wood with Tattered Angels products!

I'm so excited for my first Tattered Angels blog post!  Our theme this month is using Tattered Angels products to alter wood.  I have 3 Projects to share with you today!

Paris Box:

 
I bought this wooden box at Hobby Lobby.  I liked it ok, but it really needed some personality.  I used Tattered Angels Regal Accent Stamp with white embossing powder.  The embossing powder works like a resist!

I misted and painted the wooden box with my current favorite colors of Glimmer Mist:  Apple, Dragonfly, Pomegranate.  I also added some Bordeaux Glimmer Glam to a few corners. of the box.

  

I used S4-298 Antiquities Spellbinders die template.  I applied several layers of Bordeaux Glimmer Glam to the Fleur de Lis die cut and the buttons.

 Layout:

 

I used Sugar Maple Glimmer Mist on the wooden tree branches and buds.  The trick is to dry them with a heat gun or let them sit in a puddle of Glimmer Mist overnight, to really get them coated nicely.

Other supplies include: Apple Glimmer Mist and Evergreen Chalkboard Mist, Chandelier Glimmer Glam, Heidi Swapp (Mist)-A-Bles Crepe Paper Ribbon, Heidi Swapp Ir-resist-ible Alphas, Heidi Swapp Va Va Victorian Irresistable Chips.

Recipe Spoon:

 

I used Granite  and Midnight Blue Glimmer Mist, as well as Platinum Glimmer Glaze on this wooden spoon.  I also used those same products to alter pine cones!

Tattered Angels Projects

I received an email asking me about projects I have created using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist!  I decided I'd share them with you on my blog as well!

 

Yellowstone Layout - I used Glimmer Mist on a Tattered Angels Screen, misted it on old book pages, die cuts and ribbon.  I also embossed the TA Screen on the metal die cut using my Spellbinders die templates and my Wizard.

 

Thinking of You Tri-fold Card - Glimmer Misted on cardstock, tags, dimensional paint and stacked die cut flowers!

 

Autumn Harvest Clipboard -I used Glimmer Mist on tree branches, old book pages, die cuts, patterned paper and ribbon.

 

Fairyopolis Altered House - This is a Crafty Secrets folding house.  The colors and design were inspired by the book "Fairyopolis".  There is a ton of Glimmer Mist layered on this creation as well as tissue die cut flowers and stamps.

 

 

Autumn Girls Layout - I used Glimmer Mist on the paper, flowers and the Flower Soft (which was white to begin with)

 
 

Garden Journal - I created for a JustRite blog hop

You can always type in a keyword into the search box on the right hand side of my blog and it will find projects that relate to that keyword!  For example if you type in Tattered Angels into the search box, you should get  all the projects I used their products on.  Pretty cool huh?

I'll get working on some more projcts using Tattered Angels products.  Have you noticed there is so much more to them than just Glimmer Mist?  Wow!  Check back soon!

Stackable die cut flowers!

My new paper crafting obsession is creating all sorts of flowers out of paper, felt, cork, and fabric.  I hope to have some more tutorials up soon!

This layout shows how to make wonderful stacked die cut flowers :)

I created this layout using all sorts of layered flowers.  I die cut and embossed different shapes and sizes of circles, scallops, and other die templates out of various paper, felt, cork and an old book page. 

 

I misted some of the die cuts, then crinkled and squished some, then pressed and folded up the edges of others.  Allow to dray.  Spray a few with Glimmer Mist, or ink the edges. 

Stack 3-4 of the die cuts, put a brad through the middle of the stack to secure.  I also put buttons in the middle of a few of the flowers for added interest.

Once you get going, you can make a ton of these flowers all at once and use them in other projects!

For the love of music.....

I grew up in a family that loved music.  We were always listening to music, dancing in the living room and singing at the top of our lungs. 

I'm lucky enough to have a husband who loves music as much as I do.  On one of our first dates, he played his guitar for me....I think I fell in love with him right then and there.  Now he has an acoustic guitar, resonator guitar and a mandolin.  Our girls have their own keyboard and their own guitar.  I keep thinking one of these days, I'll get up the nerve to take voice lessons. (he he)

Arianna was lying on the couch one day next to the mandolin and just couldn't help plucking the strings.  I don't even think she knew she was doing it.  The instrument just called to her.  I couldn't help but turn this picture into a layout.

Journaling reads:  "Arianna your love of music is never ending.  You just can't help singing and plucking strings."
