A Jewel Loom Jewelicious Crystal Bracelet

The new Jewel Loom™ created by Julianna Hudgins and Beadalon is truly a magnificent new jewelry crafting tool!  It is so easy for beginners, but produces fabulous results for professionals as well. I created this Jewelicious Crystal Bracelet to share with you today.  It's the affinity band base created on the Jewel Loom™ and then crystal's were sewn and attached to the band.

I began by watching Julianna's Youtube Video on the Jewel Loom.  She does an excellent job of telling you all the details.  You can see hear that I have attached my thread to the grooves to create my warp threads.  I began by weaving back and forth in between my warp threads, and then sewing six beads in between each warp thread.

I continued this process until I had six rows of the gold beads, then I switched to create 6 rows of the clear beads.  This created a fun, but easy pattern for my affinity band bracelet.

You can really see the start of the pattern emerging here.  I used black thread as well to create more contrast.  One tip I would recommend is that you use high quality beads such as toho or your other favorite brand.  This will ensure that the beads are very close in size to create a more uniform look.

I just fell in love with how easy the new Jewel Loom is to use.  I could loom while I was watching tv, and it was so relaxing!

Here is my Jewel Loom Affinity Band all completed.  You can see I have 4 sections of the gold beads, and 3 of the clear beads.  I finished off each end and attached the loop and toggle clasps as Julianna shows in her Jewel Loom YouTube Video.

I picked out and sorted through various crystal beads I had, then sewed them together and attached them to my Affinity Bead Band.  I really liked how it turned out for my first Jewel Loom project.

There are only a few more shopping days left until Christmas!  If you're like me, and need a few more gift ideas....I have one to share with you today ~ A Jewel Flowers and Flourishes Bling Gift Card Holder!

 I'm so excited to get my hands on the new Jewel Flowers and Flourishes Bling by Want2Scrap!!

I cut and embossed Jewel Flowers and Flourishes and then adhered the Jewel Flowers and Flourishes Bling.  It's gorgeous!!  I love how perfectly the bling lines up with the die cuts.

I cut a piece of white cardstock to size, then used an M-Bossabilities to create some texture, folded back a corner, added some ribbon, the die cuts and bling, the giftcard and a decorative stick pin.

A quick and easy project that is great for those last minute gift ideas anytime of the year.

The tragedy of Newton, CT weighs heavy on my heart.  Our prayers and thoughts go out to all those touched the events.  Speaking of prayers and positive thoughts, I'm sending my love and prayers out to Julianna and Momma Bev today as well.

Musical Notes and Jewel Flowers Tattered Angels Tag

Tags are one of my favorite projects to create.  They can be used as gift tags for packages and even bookmarks.

I love using embossing powder as a resist.  You can mist, paint and blend, then wipe off the excess for a lovely look.  The embossing powder resists the paints and will still show up beautifully.

I adore this Shabby Music Background Stamp by JustRite Stamps.  I inked the stamp with watermark ink and stamped onto the manilla oversized shipping tag.  I sprinkled copper embossing powder and gently tapped the excess powder off, then heated it with my heat gun.  I allowed it to cool, then began playing with my Tattered Angels Paints. 

I love to blend darker shades on the bottom and work my way to lighter colors on the top of the tag.   I began with Plain Jane Simply Sheer Teal.  I swear this is one of my favorite colors right now.  I could swim in it!  Then I painted Caspian Sea Glimmer Glam onto the center of the tag and wiped off the excess to let the copper embossed musical notes show through.  I die cut Jewel Flowers and Flourishes out of cream card stock and used the die template as a stencil to apply teal fluid chalk ink.  I painted Chandelier Glimmer Glam on each flower and curled the petals to create dimension.

I painted Caspian Sea Glimmer Glam onto the ribbon.  I love how the glitter shimmers.  I painted the top of the tag with Aloha Green Glimmer Glaze and misted the corner with Sun Sisters Glimmer Mist.  The copper musical notes look vintage and aged.

Cheers to Sandi and Jerry

Today I wanted to show you a quick project that I created.  It's an altered Gift Bag featuring an Ombre affect, using various shades of the color purple to create a color progression.  It is absolutely one of my favorite techniques using Tattered Angels paint products.

I created this Ombre Style Wine Bag to give to my dear friends Jerry and Sandi Parks.

They were high school sweethearts, who have found each other again.  They were married recently on a beach in St. Lucia.  It's rather a romantic tale, and I'm so very happy to be attending their wedding reception tonight.  I can't think of two people more deserving of this happy occasion.  Friends and family will share a toast to them and celebrate their happiness. Don't you just adore a good love story?!!!  (Swoon)

So here's a few tips on how I created this Ombre Wine Bag for this fabulous couple......

I used Resplendent Rectangles by Spellbinders Paper Arts and die cut Script Paper by Canvas Corp.  Then I misted with Blackberry Cordial, Pop Rocks, Lavender Fields and Spring Violet Glimmer Mist.  I used a heat gun to dry the panel.  Then I cut out the word LOVE from Canvas Corp patterned paper using Back to Basics die templates and painted Purple Passion Glimmer Glaze along the edges.  I cut/embossed Jewel Flowers and Flourishes die template using Canvas Corp patterned paper and then misted and painted with Tattered Angels Paint Products.  I added some bling to the die cuts.

I poured Puple Passion Glimmer Glaze onto a non-stick craft sheet, then rolled my brayer in it, coating it evenly.  I rolled the Glimmer Glaze loaded brayer onto my stamp and immediately stamped onto the kraft colored wine bag.  I did this twice at the top and bottom of the bag and allowed it to dry.

That's all there is to creating a Tattered Angels Ombre Style Wine Bag for that perfect couple!

A Jewel Goddess Art Journal and a Giveaway!!

I'm so honored to be a part of the Julianna Hudgins Positvely Me Design Team.  Julianna is so inspiring to me in many ways.  I decided to create a Jewel Goddess Art Journal cover to keep the inspiration going.

Julianna’s Jewel Goddess, Jewel Sentiments and Frames, Jewel Keys and Jewel Flowers and Flourishes were blended together to create this piece.

I'm having so much fun creating with Beadalon wire and wire wrappers as well.  I have lots of ideas in store for these new products I'm working with:  Beadalon artistic wire, 20 gauge silver, Beadalon Coiling Gizmo,  Silver Artistic Wire, Artistic Wire – Silver Plated Oval Wire Wrapper by Beadalon

I threaded the Artistic Wire Mesh through the holes in the journal cover.  I love howit can be pulled,expanded and twisted.  The charms I created, that are hanging from the tag were so easy and fun to create.  I feel a pendant creation in the making just looking at those!

Here's a close up of the Jewel Flowers, inked with Clearsnap, then painted with Chandelier Glimmer Glam.  The pink patterned paper was also painted with Chandelier Glimmer Glam.  Notice the coild wire centers on the flowers.

CHA Summer 2012 ~ Spellbinders

I've been at the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) Show in Chicago this week!  Lucky for me, being with Spellbinders Paper Arts since 2006 comes with some perks.  I am on the Inspiration Team, doing projects and tutorial videos for Michaels and Joann's, and I am part of the Travel Team who gets to go to the CHA shows and work the booth.  

This company is like family to me.  I love every second of my trips, even when it's a lot of hard work.  I'm so thankful to be a part of this fabulous and amazing company.

Here's a little recap of my week!

Dinner at our hotel.  On the right side of the table you'll see Kirstie Rylon - Director of Marketing for Spellbinders, Julianna Hudgins, Kim Hupke - Spellbinders Education Director, Cathy Chlebana Design Team Coordinator, Stacey Caren - Owner of Spellbinders, Kellie Forton - President of JustRite Stamps.....then you might notice Becca Feekan on the left.  That's just a few of us at dinner that night.

 

Our old friend Kar came to see us.  The four of us were on the 2006 Design Team together.  It was so great to see her and catch up.

The Spellbinders crew heading back to the hotel after set up.  I must say, this show went together and came down very well.  We are all seasoned at the CHA shows and know how the booth needs to look.  I helped put artwork up on the towers during set up.  I swear that is my favorite job.  Cindy was a huge help with all her pre-organized rubber bins, bubble wrap and labels.

Dinner at Gino's East.  We always have a company dinner one night.  Stacey always has a little gift for each of us as well.  She is so lovely and generous.

I was lucky enough to have dinner with JustRite Stamps - Kellie Fortin and gang.  Here is a shot of her booth as well.  Gorgeous!

 

I can't really put into words how much these women inspire me.  They are all so creative, fun, kind and full of personality.  I'm so thankful they are a part of my life.  I am honored to know each and every one of them.

 

Spellbinders won the CHA 2012 Summer Innovations Award for the new Majestic Elements die templates. Kim, Stacey and Cathy, and Stacey doing a live feed with Charity Wings.  This company never ceases to amaze me every single day!

New Want2Scrap by Julianna Hudgins!!!  Look at that gorgeous Jewel Flowers and Flourishes bling, and all that new chipboard!

Spellbinders group of ladies.....I just adore this photo.  We all wore black and white, and didn't even plan it!  We are connected creative souls for sure.

 

Our last night together we all went to dinner at Gibsons.  It was sooo much fun.  We shared good food, drinks and lots of laughter.  

We told stories and celebrated all of Spellbinders accomplishments.  I am such a lucky girl to be part of this amazing group.

It was an incredible week.  Spellbinders has grown so much since I started with them in 2006.  I am in awe of the business sense, creativity, and innovation from this company.  Miss you all already!
