National Scrapbooking Day! ~ And a Giveaway!!

May 5th is officially National Scrapbooking Day!  I just had to create a Scrapbook Page for my blog today.  I'm also giving away a brand new set of Spellbinders Paper Arts Decorative Dress Forms die templates!    

I created this Scrapbook Page, just for me.  No deadlines, no directed themes, no products to feature.....just creating with my favorite things for pure enjoyment.  I can't tell you how long it has been that I have been able to create like this.  I just haven't had the time.  It's so freeing, and really helps the creative process to just be able to create for yourself.  Don't get me wrong, I love creating for companies of course, but I have recently changed the work I do for some companies, and it's been such a wonderful change.

I find that I reach for my favorite products time and time again. I also realized that my favorite products are usually the companies I design for.  That's why I design for them, they make products that fit my style and sense of creativity.  Funny how I'm drawn to them, and they in turn are drawn to me.  

I love to distress, ink, stamp, layer, and then add a touch of bling.  Want2Scrap makes the most beautiful bling ever.  I used the new and Beautiful Bling Borders - Fancy That designed by Nina Brackett.  OMG have you seen their new Iphone cases with bling?  Eeeack!!

The lovely stamp is a new release called Garden Delights by QuietFire Designs.   Suzanne Cannon designs these lovely stamps, and I just can't get over how beautiful the quotes and the fonts are.  So gorgeous.

The paper is My Mind's Eye - Miss Caroline.  I love the feminine look, with a bit of a rustic Wyoming look.   I distressed the edges, added some ink and used Spellbinders Paper Arts Jar Labels designed by Becky Fleck.  I love to hide die cuts to create the look of a tab.

 

 Adding tiny buttons by Buttons Galore, and using your own handwriting with a Copic black AtYou Spica glitter pen, really adds some fun details to this layout.

Velvet ribbon, decorative stick pins, and of course several Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms were added to finish off this layout.  

Bitty Blossoms were colored to match this layout perfectly by cutting them out of pure white cardstock, then misting them with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  I love being able to make my own embellishments, and getting that perfect color match and shimmer.

Tattered Angels misting effects

Blending Tattered Angels misting products is one of my favorite techniques.  It's so basic, yet so affective.  I love to mist with one color and lightly mist another color along the edge of the first color.  They bleed and blend so beautifully.

Here's a layout I created using Canvas Corp 12x12 Corrugated Paper in white.  It's a perfect base to apply Tattered Angels paint products.  I love the Canvas Corp black twine.  I also used Tattered Angels stamps, Pink Paislee resist paper and Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms and Wings of Hope die templates.

Plain Jane is the focus and layered Plain Jane Simply Sheer Teal, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Shade, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Taupe, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Yellow, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Red, Plain Jane Simply Sheer Light Blue, Baseboard Gravel.   I painted the heart with Stained Glass in Green.

Canvas Corp has some incredible new papers that are absolutely perfect for Tattered Angels paint products.  I really love the kraft and black series.  I started making 2 cards, then kept creating to make a set of 4 cards.

For these 2 cards I used: Plain Jane Simply Sheer in Yellow, Simply Sheer in Teal and Light Blue.

I also used Spellbinders Jewel Goddess,  Jewel Keys and Office Supplies.  I love how they turned out, with layers of Tattered Angels paint products on them.

Here is the second set of cards using layers of Glimmer Mist, Canvas Corp paper and twine, as well as Spellbinders die templates and Want2Scrap Bling.

JustRite Stampers Guest Designer! Butterfly Card

It has been a dream come true to be a JustRite Stampers Guest Designer!!  What an honor.  I'm still pinching myself.  JustRite makes the most beautiful stamps.  They have some amazing background stamps.  Be sure to check them out.  I know you will love them!

For my 3rd and final project as a JustRite Guest Designer, I used the Harlequin Script Background Stamp.  It is divine!  I love the look of using embossing powder and heat embossing on black paper.

JustRite Guest Designer! Travel Mini Album

Woohoo! ~ It's Day 2 of being a Guest Designer for JustRite Stampers!!!  I don't know about you, but I love to travel. I create so many wonderful memories and want to document them.  So, I am forever making mini albums.

JustRite has created some of the most amazing background stamps!  The Vintage Map Collage Background Stamp is perfect for a Travel Album.  There is so much depth, and so many areas to color and embellish to any theme.

Speaking of travel.....I was fortunate enough to enjoy another trip with Spellbinders to Phenoix, AZ!  I'll tell you all about that in another post.

JustRite Guest Designer! Life is Better With Friends...

I am so very excited that I will be a JustRite Guest Designer for the next three days!  They make the most beautiful intricate stamps.  Kellie Fortin, is such a wonderful person, and I was over the moon excited to create for her.  I love playing with their new background stamps.

Exciting News, and a Give Away!

I have some exciting publication news, and decided to give away some new Spellbinders die templates! I was so happy to see my artwork in print, and wanted to share some goodness with you my blog readers!!  So, I'm giving away a set of the brand new Spellbinders Wings of Hope die template set and a Spellbinders t-shirt from CHA!  

Papercraft Inspirations contacted me and commissioned me to contribute to their Master Class series!  I was over the moon excited about this.  My Butterfly Card made the cover too.  I walked into Joann's Craft Store recently and spotted it sitting on their shelves.  Wow - talk about surreal.  

 I included a few shots from the inside pages.  There is a complete article that goes along with this.  It was so fun and I'm so grateful.  I downloaded the Papercraft Inspirations app on my iphone too!  

 I used loads of Spellbinders die templates, Impressabilities and their premium craft foil, WorldWin Paper, Rubber Cafe stamps and Glimmer Mist. 

Create and Decorate Easter Basket ~ This was a really fun project.  I used Spellbinders die templates, Graphic 45 paper, Waltzing Mouse Stamps, old book pages and lots of Glimmer Mist. 

CardMaker Magazine Blossom Card ~  Spellbinders die templates, felt, Pink Paislee paper, Nestabling and Chalkboard Mist.  There is a matching envelope as well.

Glimmer Inspiration!

I'm so excited to start my second year as a design team member with Tattered Angels!  You should have seen my art room recently.  It's covered in bottles of glimmer mist, glimmer glam and glimmer glaze.  Sheer Heaven I tell you!

On of my 1st new projects of the year is..... this ART Tag.  

Brand New Jewel Goddess die template by Julianna Hudgins, for Spellbinders Paper Arts, was used to create the goddess shape.  I love how the Glimmer Mist colors blend and shimmer on her shape.

I used a Tattered Angels Tag, Blackberry Cordial, Black Cherry, Cranberry Zing Glimmer Mist and Grape Ape Chalkboard Mist.  I used Frost Glimmer Mist on Pink Paislee Alphabets.    Bling by Want2Scrap was added as well as black ink and dymo labeling to create the quote. Ribbon in a soft shimmery pink was the final touch.

A fun little Valentine's Day Card

I am a romantic at heart.  I love mushy movies, candle light dinners with Aaron and talking and taking long walks together.

So right after New Year's Day....I start to think about Valentine's Day.  I just couldn't help but create this card.

New Year, and a New Technique!

It's a New Year....and time to think about New Techniques you can do with your Grand Calibur™ Machine and Spellbinders™ die templates!  

I created this oversized tag to show you one of my favorite techniques ~ using Spellbinders die templates as a stencil/mask for misting sprays.

 

Supplies:

• S5-074 Retro Mod Clocks
• S5-030 Fancy Tags Two
• Grand Calibur Machine

• Tattered Angels - Chalkboard Mist
• Donna Salazar - Distress It All
• Core'dinations ColorCore Cardstock®
• Want2Scrap - Bits of Bling in Navy and Silver, Fancy Tags Two Silver Rhinestones, Fancy Tags Two Nestaboard
• SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ - 3D Foam Squares, black
• Clearsnap - Pigment Ink
• WorldWin Papers® - cream cardstock

Begin by placing the die template on a large manilla shipping tag.  Mist the tag with your favorite color. Allow the mist to soak in about 5-7 seconds.  Lay a paper towel on top and run your brayer over the paper towel to soak up excess mist.

Allowing the mist to sit too long, will result in the color bleeding under the die template.  Remove die template and rinse die template.

Repeat this process with a second color.  It helps if you choose colors that coordinate well together.  Allow the tag to dry, or dry with a heat gun.

Stitch around the edges of the shipping tag with your sewing machine.

Use the Distrezz It All to quickly distress the edges of the tag.  This electric machine makes very quick work or roughing up the edges.  I just love it.

Adhere the tag to a piece of cream cardstock and trim to approximately 1/4" on all sides.

Cut/emboss Retro Mod Clocks out of color core cardstock and sand.  Cut/emboss Fancy Tags Two and the clock face out of cream cardstock.  Use the die template as a stencil and ink directly onto the clock face die cut.  

Use your own handwriting to write the sentiment onto Fancy Tags Two die cut.  Adhere the die cut to the Fancy Tags Two Nestaboard and apply Fancy Tags Two Silver Rhinestones.

Place a 3D Black Foam Squares to the clock face and pendulum, and adhere them to the clocks.  I stacked 2 of the Black Foam Squares to the back of the Nestaboard to help it really pop off the tag.

Adhere all the elements to the shipping tag.  Tie a ribbon around the tag and create a bow.  Distress the edges of the tag using the Distrezz It All.

That's all there is to it!  I hope you enjoyed learning a new technique for using your Spellbinders die templates.
