Welcome to the Spellbinders and Core'dinations Blog Swap!

All this week designers for Spellbinders and Core'dinations will be presenting the unique qualities of our products and showing how they work together for divine die cut designs!

I created a Mixed Media Journal for the Blog Swap.  I absolutely love altering composition notebooks.  They are so quick and easy, and really make a unique gift.  I use them for gifts, and often find myself using them for scrapbook ideas, blog post ideas, etc.  I tape ideas, write notes and draw sketches in them.

I am completely addicted to the new Spellbinders Blossom Tags and Accents.  They worked really nicely with Core'dinations Black Magic, Color Core Cardstock, and Whitewash Collection. I also used Want2Scrap Nestabling; Tattered Angels Juneberry Wine Glimmer Mist on the ribbon and Bo Bunny Garden Girl Collection.

Vacation Travel Journal

I was lucky enough to attend Inspired last year with my Mom and Sister.  It changed the way I looked at mixed media projects forever!

The resounding theme for me, was all about being true to yourself and your art.  Don't worry about being the "flavor of the month".  Do the art that makes you happy, that feeds your soul, and good things will come of it.  Don't you just love that?!!!

I created this Vacation Travel Journal using ephemera from my trip to Virginia and the Inspired Event by Donna Downey.   

It is a collage of brightly colored patterned paper by Sassafrass Lass, Pink Paislee, and colorful stitching with a sewing machine.

I included the menu from a coffee shop, a wine paper bag, vintage money from Colonial Williamsburg, a handout from the Williamsburg Winery, a flower die cut I made with Spellbinders die templates, Tattered Angels Chalkboard misted flower ribbon. 

Here’s a look at the front cover (on the right) and the back cover (on the left).  My Journal is open and face down.  I used Teal High Heel Chalkboard Mist, Mermaid Glimmer Glam, Cowboy Glimmer Glaze; Patina and Vanilla Breeze Glimmer Mist.

After you create the front and back cover collages, you wrap them around the mat-board and adhere with seriously strong adhesive.

This was inspired by Pam Garrison and a class she taught while I was at Donna Downey's Inspired Event in May 2010.

For these pages I used Gesso; Teal High Heel, Firefly, Alaskan Salmon, Inch Worm and Chalk Chalkboard Mist.  I also colored the white flower ribbon with Firefly chalkboard.

I coated the flower and butterfly with Chandelier Glimmer Glam.  I also used Royal Velvet Glimmer Glam.  I misted Olive Vine, Forest Green and Patina Glimmer Mist.  I also used Sugar Cane Glimmer Glaze.  Tattered Angels Stamps  Blossom Trees Screen Print Clear Stamps.  I also included some seed packets from the Colonial Williamsburg Gardens.

I used S4-312 Blossom Three and cut and embossed each one from collaged paper.  I am so loving die cut collaged flowers right now!  I painted the blossom with Chandelier Glimmer Glam and curled the edges while it's wet and let it dry that way.  It has a sheen of glimmer!

I painted a thick coat of Gesso on the edge of the paper and onto the tag.  I used a Tattered Angels stamp and pressed firmly into the gesso, then pulled it out of the gesso carefully and allowed it to dry.  I used Glimmer Mist, Chalkboard Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glaze.  I loved how it all pools in the ridges.

I love to use Dymo labels, Glimmer Glam, Bling, stitching and ink.  Layers and dimension are fun to create with products you have on hand.

Blending coordinating shades of Greens and Blue Glimmer Mists works so well!  They blend like a dream and look almost like a blue sunset.  For this page I used  I misted Olive Vine, Forest Green and Patina Glimmer Mist. Then used my Tattered Angels stamp to create the tree.  I actually used a bit of hand drawing as well! 

The Neenah paper is thick enough to create a pocket out of.  I stitched it on, painted on layers of Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Glam and Chalkboard Mist.  I used the Butterfly from S5-051 Fanciful Flight  to create a collaged butterfly.

Spellbinders Bunny Hop!

I'm so excited to be part of the Spellbinders Bunny Hop!  I have such a good time participating in blog hops, seeing all the wonderful creations, getting inspired and saying to myself - wow what a cool way to use that die template!

I have created a Counting Book for a toddler using S4-262 Nested Ducks and S5-052 Creative Page Tabs.

The Counting Book is an accordion folded mini album that is held together

with a ribbon which ties in a bow in the back.  

It is created with October Afternoon Schoolhouse paper line!  I love all the fun colors and graphics.

I used LF-168 Grand Large Labels to create a total of 10 panels. Five panels are shown on each side.

Each panel has a pocket sewn to it with a stamped Nested Duck die cut adhered to the pocket.

October Afternoon counting cards have been colored with Copic Sketch Markers.

A Creative Page Tab die cut is adhered to the card making it easy for little hands to pull them out!

 

Supplies include: S4-262 Nested Ducks, S5-052 Creative Page Tabs, LF-168 Grand Large Labels, S5-028 Nested Pennants, Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry Glue, October Afternoon Schoolhouse patterned paper, WorldWin cardstock, Copic Sketch Markers, Flourishes Birthday Pennants and Strips and Stripes, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink in Creamy Brown, Offray Ribbon in black and hand made beaded stick pin.

Altered Metal and Tattered Angels

Metal is such a perfect medium for Tattered Angels paint products!  I love the way the paints ooze, drip and pool in and around the metal.

I have three projects that are featured on the Tattered Angels Blog today!  I can't really say which is my favorite, but this Saw Blade Clock as to be the most unique of the three.

I used these Tattered Angels products on the Saw Blade Clock:  Chalkboard Mist - Inch Worm, Glam - Chandelier on the actual saw blades, and Dirty Martini; Glaze - Icicle andAll That Jazz on the metal embellishments.

 

I used 2 used saw blades I got from my darling husband, bottlecaps, glass globs, seed beeds and a washer.  I also used Spellbinders(TM) S4-299 Fallen Angel die template and Precious Metals Premium Craft Foils.

My next project is a Metal Mini Album.

I used Tattered Angels Glam - Chandelier and Glaze - All that Jazz and Penny Loafer.  I created the mini album cover out of Spellbinders Precious Metals Premium Craft Foils, LF-251 Grand Big Scalloped Ovals, S5-051 Fanciful Flight, and S4-324 Ribbon Banners.

 

All That Jazz Glaze really finds it's way into all the de-bossed areas of the copper metal foil.  I also sanded the metal foil in various places to give it a distressed look.  I created the mini album using metal foil and Spellbinders™ die templates and Impressabilities™.

The last project I have for you today is a Metal Butterfly Night Light.

I used several Tattered Angels paint products on this Metal Butterfly Night Light.  They include:  Glaze - Icicle, Midnight Rendezvous, Penny Loafer and All That Jazz; Glam -Blue Suede Shoes, Chandelier, Bordeaux and Dirty Martini.

I cut/embossed LF-158 Grand Large Labels, then I embossed a Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen into the die cut metal foil.

The Butterfly is Spellbinders S5-051 Fanciful Flight.

Tattered Angels paint products really help you push the boundaries of mixed media art.  I just loved creating and experimenting with their products on metal!

A Valentine Journal

I love to cover composition notebooks and make them into journals.  They are so easy to alter and can be any theme you choose.

What could be better than a freshly ground coffee and a new journal?  I have one journal that I write down all the funny things my girls have said since they were babies.  I have another journal that I write down art ideas and sketch project ideas.  

I created this for the Spellbinders blog and there are step shots and instructions there if you want more information.

When my sister, mom and I attended Donna Downey's Inspired Event last May, I created a journal for each of us to write down ideas, websites and products we love.

Grand Nestabilities ~ Year in Review Mini Album

Happy 2011!  

I just finished this Year in Review Mini Album which displays one of my favorite quotes ~ "Do One Thing Every Day That Makes You Happy"!  Don't you just love that?

I used Grand Nestabilities, KaiserCraft - Shaken not Stirred patterned paper and Kaleidoscope Borders and Centers Round 2-3/8"  JustRite Stamps. 

I love that these giant Grand Nestabilities are perfect for creating mini albums.  You can make them over and over again with these die templates.  It's so much more economical that buying pre-made mini albums that you can only use once.

I used LF-114 Grand Circles and LF-124 Grand Scalloped Circles for this mini album.  There are so many different combinations you can choose to make your own cover and pages.  I photographed these next to a Copic Marker so you can get a feel for the Grand size of these die templates.

I used the S7-018 Big Scalloped Border Grand to cut/emboss Shaken not Stirred black patterned paper by KaiserCraft.  Then I created mountain folds every 1/4" as shown above.  Adhere the ends of the Scalloped Border Grand die cut together to create an accordian folded medallion.

There are numerous choices for embellishing the center of the accordian folded medallion.  You can also add as few or as many pages as you like to this mini album.

JustRite 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hop 7!

 Here is my Moments and Memories Mini Album!

I absolutely love mini albums!  This one is about  4 1/2" x 4 1/2"  with 4 double sided pages.  I filled it with lots of stamping, sewing, buttons and die cuts.  There is a little room on each page to adhere a Christmas photo as well. 

The entire mini album uses JustRite's Christmas Collection, Spellbinders die templates and Graphic 45 Christmas Past 8x8" patterned paper pack.

I used JustRite Christmas Nested Sentiments and Verse  for the center sentiment, which is stamped in burgundy ink; and for the Happy Holidays which was stamped in VersaMark ink, gold embossing powder by Sparkle and Sprinkle sprinkled on ink and heated.

Spellbinders (TM) Die Cuts used throughout album:  LF-127 Grand Scalloped Squares #1; S4-295 Lacey Squares; S4-290 Labels Fourteen; and S4-115 Petite Scalloped Circles Large.

Pages 1 and 2:  I used JustRite Christmas Nested Frames and Holiday Cheer.  These stamps were colored in with Copic Markers!

 

Pages 3 and 4: I used JustRite Christmas Nested Frames - "May the Season" sentiment stamped in black ink on craft brown cardstock.  Love the "Night Before Christmas" patterned paper with the craft brown!

 

Page 5 and 6:   I used all the frames in the JustRite Christmas Nested Frames and colored them with Copic Markers and AtYou Spica's.  I also used Holiday Cheer which was colored in as well.  Black 3D Foam Squares by SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L were used to add dimension to all the stamps and create a 3D effect.

Tattered Angels Projects

I received an email asking me about projects I have created using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist!  I decided I'd share them with you on my blog as well!

 

Yellowstone Layout - I used Glimmer Mist on a Tattered Angels Screen, misted it on old book pages, die cuts and ribbon.  I also embossed the TA Screen on the metal die cut using my Spellbinders die templates and my Wizard.

 

Thinking of You Tri-fold Card - Glimmer Misted on cardstock, tags, dimensional paint and stacked die cut flowers!

 

Autumn Harvest Clipboard -I used Glimmer Mist on tree branches, old book pages, die cuts, patterned paper and ribbon.

 

Fairyopolis Altered House - This is a Crafty Secrets folding house.  The colors and design were inspired by the book "Fairyopolis".  There is a ton of Glimmer Mist layered on this creation as well as tissue die cut flowers and stamps.

 

 

Autumn Girls Layout - I used Glimmer Mist on the paper, flowers and the Flower Soft (which was white to begin with)

 
 

Garden Journal - I created for a JustRite blog hop

You can always type in a keyword into the search box on the right hand side of my blog and it will find projects that relate to that keyword!  For example if you type in Tattered Angels into the search box, you should get  all the projects I used their products on.  Pretty cool huh?
