I'm still feeling inspired by CHA! I saw this lovely paper line with a sewing theme by JilliBean Soup, and it reminded me so much of my mom.
She taught me to sew at a very young age. I made my first quilt when I was still in grade school. My Mom is such an artist in everything she does. She made each of my Prom dresses!! I would pick some insanely complicated dress out of a magazine, and she would work her magic. It always turned out even better than the picture. What a talented seamstress!
So, with the sewing theme in mind, I created this Butterfly Bookmark Tag can be used as a bookmark or a gift tag. I love that. I am seriously infatuated with Butterflies at the moment. The Spellbinders Blog features a tutorial for my Butterfly Bookmark Tag.
This Scrapbook page features photographs I altered with a vintage filter so they look like those photo's I have of myself as a child of the 70's. Love that affect! The layout features Mackenzie's 8th Birthday at the Denver Zoo!
I used the spool patterned paper from JilliBean Soup on this layout as well. I also adore My Mind's Eye paper and used it for the foundation of the scrapbook page. There is a tutorial on the Spellbinders Blog showing how to use Edgeabilities(R) die templates to create cut/embossed edges. I used the Classic Scallop edge along the spool paper and for the edges and decorative elements you see on the kraft colored tag.
Edgeabilities(R) were a huge hit at CHA, so you should see them coming into stores within the next month or so!
Another favorite new die template of mine is the Spiral Blossoms Two. They give you a beautiful scalloped edge in a pre-cut flower that is ready to roll up and create those rolled flowers everyone is making right now. Super easy, and oh so beautiful!
The Spellbloggers were able to attend a Blog Retreat before CHA in Chicago! We hung out at Gino's East, and shared ideas, brainstormed and got a little creative too!
It was a wonderful meeting and I came away feeling creatively inspired and happy to have a sense of the "big picture" and how the Spellbinders Blog fits into that.
Each of us created a collage using magazine clippings. The idea was to create a collage that represented your blog personality. For me, my blog personality is the same as my real life personality. Here are some traits the group and I pulled out about my sense of style, and what type of colors and images I'm draw to....
Graphic, art
Blue
Butterflies
Eclectic
Typography, fonts
Collage, paint
Like social interaction of the blog
Family
Art keeps me grounded; allows expression of myself
OK with outside the lines
Natural colors
Spontaneous
What a fun creative exercise huh?
We have some fun and exciting plans up our sleeves for the Spellbinders Blog. I hope you'll enjoy them in upcoming months. I'm sure you'll see some fun stuff here too!
Have a wonderfully creative weekend!
Thanks for taking a peek into my creative personality.
I am such a lucky girl. I am so fortunate to be associated with such an incredible company ~ Spellbinders Paper Arts. I have been designing for them since 2005, and my how they have grown! I'm grateful to have been a Design Team Member for several years, and now a Spellblogger and Travel Team Member for the past 2 years. It's been an incredible journey and I look forward to continuing my work with them.
I just returned from Craft and Hobby Association show in Chicago. A week in Chicago, a blog retreat, demonstrating in the booth, and sharing lots of laughs with my friends was incredible. I also love the energy of demoing to other crafters and retailers. The creative energy is reciprocal and I love every minute of it!
Thanks for checking out the video and for stopping by my blog today!!! Hopefully you can get your hands on some Edgeabilities soon! They are so fabulous and the possibilities are endless!

I’m thrilled to share two projects using LF-006 Wonderful Wings and S5-066 Shadow Flowers with you...
Butterflies are such a huge trend right now, this gate folded Butterfly Card is perfect for all occasions!
LF-006 Wonderful Wings and S5-066 Shadow Flowers are part of the Donna Salazar Designer Collection! I pretty much love any design she comes up with.
Supplies include:
Spellbinders Paper Arts ~The Grand Calibur (TM) Machine, LF-006 Wonderful Wings and S5-066 Shadow Flowers
Graphic 45 - Le Cirque Collection, On the Boardwalk Collection, Renaissance Faire Collection
Begin by cutting a piece of kraft colored cardstock to 12 x 6 3/4". Score vertically at 3" mark and 9" mark. Fold the two panels towards the middle of the card to create the gate fold. Adhere white grid paper to the front of each panel.
Cut/emboss S5-066 Shadow Flowers using the Grand Calibur Machine, out of dark and light shades of grey and green cardstock. Adhere the Shadow Flowers to each panel. I put the tallest Shadow Flowers on the left and the shorter ones on the right panel to help draw the eye.
Stamp your favorite sentiment on the right panel as shown above. Open the card and stamp a coordinating sentiment on the inside of the card.
Choose a coordinating patterned paper and colored cardstock. Cut/emboss three Butterflies as shown above. I like to mix the cardstock on top for one, and the patterned paper on top for another.
Adhere the Butterflies by applying a line of Zip Dry glue on the backside, and down the center of the top Butterfly. Carefully center and adhere to the bottom Butterfly. Allow to dry. Then, bend the winds of the top Butterfly up. You can also curl the wings just a bit for more dimension.
Adhere the black crystal swirls to each corner as shown above. That's all there is to it! Lots of layers and dimension and oh so easy to create. I had so much fun creating this card!
