Mother's Day Scrapbook Layout

My assignment this week for the Spellbinders Blog was to create a Mother's Day Layout.  So, I decided to ask my sweet hubby to take a photo of the me and my darling girls.

He did good didn't he?  I cropped it a bit, and make it black and white with a faded border around the edge, but he captured us with smiles, froggie pajama's and all.  I love it.  So, it became my inspiration for the layout.

I actually die cut my photograph, which give its a nice embossed edge.  I also used my sewing machine to stitch around the layout and the background strip.  I like how the stitching and buttons compliment each other.

My Art Studio

I love the way "Art Studio" sounds....but mine is probably more of a Creative Art Escape lol!  Either way, it's my own little space that is full of my favorite products and all my favorite creations.

My favorite color is blue, so that's the color I painted the room.  It's a little bright, but I'm getting used to the shade.

Easter Banner using Die Cuts!

Here is an Easter Banner I created!  I really love the new Spellbinders S5-029 Nested Lacey Pennants and S5-028 Nested Pennants.  There are so many possibilities with these die templates.

One trick I learned while making these is that you have to do a little pre-planning.  I like to alternate a darker patterned paper with a more neutral patterned paper. This is easy to do when you choose a coordinating paper line.  I used October Afternoon Schoolhouse. 

I like to alternate the Lacey Pennant and the Nested Pennant, and graduate in size from larger to smaller.   I used 3D White Foam Adhesive Squares by SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L.  This really makes each little die cut pop up and creates great dimension!

 

I adhered the ribbon and buttons with Zip Dry Glue by Beacon Adhesives.  For more detailed instructions, please visit the Spellbinders Blog!

Embossed Card using Spellbinders die cuts

I really love this stamp set by Unity Stamp Company.  I bought it when I went to Donna Downey's Inspired Event last year with my Mom and Sister.  I collect pretty much any stamp set I can get my hands on with the words "Faith" and "Hope".  They are my daughters middle names, and I just can't resist!

This card was created for the Spellbinders Blog.  I die cut chipboard, then embossed them into cardstock. You get a subtle embossed image of the die cut shape.  Interesting huh?Visit the Spellbinders Blog for the tutorial and a video by Kimberly Crawford that shows the technique step by step.
