Have I told you how grateful I am to be a part of the Tattered Angels Design Team? They have so many amazing artists on their Design Team and Education Team. Wow - creativity just oozes from these people.
Tattered Angels paint products are really great for creating mixed media projects. They are also fabulous for using with Spellbinders die templates!
I have 3 canvas projects over on the Tattered Angels Blog, so please stop by and leave a comment! I would really appreciate it.
This project is a Donna Downey canvas camera bag. I bought it last May when my sister and my mom and I attend Donna Downey's Inspired Event in North Carolina. I have been saving it for just the perfect combination of supplies. The canvas theme on the Tattered Angels blog really got me excited about finally finishing this project.
I know some of you are new to Tattered Angels products and some of you might be unsure how to use them. So, I created some step shots to show you how I used them on this camera bag.
I'll be doing more tutorials so you can get really comfortable with these amazing paint products.
Begin by lightly misting the corners of the front pocket on the bag with Dragonfly Glimmer Mist. Then cover the pocket with a scrap piece of paper and a bit of tape.
Next, pour some of the Dragonfly into a small cup and add about 3/4 cup of water, mix with a paint brush. Always mix before adding more paint to the bag. Paint the entire bag. You can add layers upon layers until you get the depth of color you like.
TIP~Use a heat gun to speed the drying process! But, don't get too close and heat the Glimmer in the Mist too hot, or it will start to burn and turn a bit brown.
I used Dragonfly, Apple, and Sugar Maple on the back of the bag. I misted these colors onto the bag and then blended with clean water and my paintbrush. This takes a little experimentation.
TIP~Glimmer Mist is water based, so it blends beautifully with clean water and a paintbrush and you can get just the look you want!
Paint the canvas tab and buttons with Apple and Sugar Maple Glimmer Mist. Allow to dry or dry with heat gun. Paint Cowboy Glimmer Glaze onto center of button. Paint Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam onto the canvas tab for extra glimmer.
TIP~Make sure you shake and and mix the paints before you use them. This helps disperse the glimmer throughout and keep the Glimmer Mist sprayers from getting clogged.
Spray layers of Spring 2011 Glimmer Mist Collection onto canvas die cut blossoms. You can also paint edges of the blossoms. If you want them to have curled edges leave them face up to dry. If you want them to be flat, turn them over, press them flat with your fingers and allow to dry.
TIP~ I use a non-stick mat or a large cardboard box for a "spray booth". The non-stick mat will allow the Glimmer Mist to puddle and pool and you can dip your paintbrush into them and use the leftover Glimmer Mist!
I Glimmer Misted all the canvas die cuts, allowed to dry or dried with a heat gun. Then I painted on a coat of Chandelier Glimmer Glam for extra sparkle.
I used E600 industrial strength glue to adhere all the embellishments to the camera bag. I also stamped with StazOn ink to make sure the stamp would be permanent.
To finish the camera strap, I painted a puddle of Bordeaux Glimmer Glam onto my non-stick mat. I rolled my brayer through the puddle and then rolled the brayer onto the stamp. I stamped the ends and the middle of the camera strap. I'm stamping with Glimmer Glam! Love that.
TIP~Make sure to spray the entire bag with a good coat of Scotch Guard to keep it from moisture, rain, etc.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I really appreciate it.
I hope you'll stop by the Tattered Angels Blog and see my 2 other canvas projects, and leave me a comment. This is my first month posting on their blog!
