I live a house that was built in 1920. It's a bungalow style house. I'm lucky enough to have a funky little room all to myself on the main floor, where I can create art!
I've had several emails asking how I store my die templates, particularly the Grand Nestabilities(TM). So, I thought I'd give you a peek into my room and show you my system. There are lots of different ways to store them, but this really works for me.
I bought the shelf unit at Costco, it's about 4 feet wide by 7 feet tall. I love it! The clear drawers and fabric open top boxes I got at a discount store.
The fabric boxes have strong sides and a cardboard bottom so they are fairly sturdy.
I used standard shipping tags and wrote a label for each box, then tied them to the front of the box. Each box has a large metal eyelet on the front of it, making it easy to tie the tags.
I pull out a fabric drawer and all my dies are standing up, which makes it easy to flip through and find the one I want. Each die is still in the original packaging. This makes it easy to identify the die, see a photo of it, read the name and sku # of it as well. This really helps when I'm creating blog posts for Spellbinders and need to type in all that information.
Here's how I use the packaging to store the die templaes: I cut along one side of the packaging, leaving the plastic folded side in tact.
This makes it easy to open the package, and the folded side almost works like a hinge. I find that the original sticky tape that comes in the packaging can be used again and again, but I have also added magnetic sheets into the original packaging for the die templates that have a lot of little pieces I want to keep track of.
Here's a picture of the new L-161 Grand Labels One on the left, and S4-161 Labels Oneon the right. Look how perfectly they go together! The difference between die template sizes within a Nestabilities set is ½”, which becomes a ¼” border when layering.
I'm so excited to have received the entire set of the Grand Nestabilities! Stay tuned for more details about them and some projects coming up too!
Have a wonderful weekend!
