I created an alered journal using the Iris' in the fabulous stamp set Beauty Within. I have loved Iris' since I was a little girl. My Grandma Theresa always grew them in her garden. I lived in Iowa for about 5 years and have some dear friends - Beth and Julie - that grow the most amazing Iris' you've ever seen. The photo on the cover of the journal is one Beth took of her blooming Iris'. Isn't it gorgeous? It goes perfect with Flourishes stamp set.

I began by trimming a piece of white cardstock to fit the cover of my journal. I used the single Iris stamp and some brown ink to create my own patterned paper! The trick is to stamp some images darker than others, by loading the stamp with ink, and stamping two images. I also like to have some Iris' going off the page for added interest.

I adhered the one of a kind stamped patterned paper to my journal, and layered a piece of My Mind's Eye patterned paper on top.

I cut/embossed S5-011 Scalloped Edge Frame and S4-239 Classic Scalloped Borderabilities Petite out of My Mind's Eye patterned paper.

I lightly sanded the embossed areas of the frame. I adhered ribbon to the small border.

I stamped the gorgeous Iris scene image using Memento ink and set aside to dry. Once the image was dry, I chose various colors of Copic Markers that blended well and matched my photo. I colored in the Iris' first and layered the three colors you see grouped together in this photo.
I started with the lightest color and layered the middle color and then used a touch of the darker color on the center of the base of the flowers. I used the yellow for the sky and the lightest color I used on the Iris', for the ground color. The green was used on the leaves and stems.

I also picked my favorite sentiment from the set Beauty Within and stamped it on white cardstock. I cut/embossed S3-149 Double Ended Tags and S4-24 Labels Thirteen being careful to line them up perfectly around the images, and using a piece of removeable tape to secure the die in place and keep it in place while going through the Wizard (TM).
Doesn't the Labels Thirteen die just match perfectly with the stamp? It's simply gorgeous!

Trim photograph to fit inside frame die cut. Adhere ribbon, frame die cut, photograph and border as shown.
Use a total of 12 adhesive backed foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L to adhere Iris stamped image. 2 foam squares, stacked on top of each other, in six places on the backside of the stamped image really gives a lot of dimension and helps the image to really pop! Adhere sentiment in center of border as shown.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I hope you enjoyed my altered journal.
