Altered Clipboard using Spellbinders die templates and Glimmer Mists....

Altered Clipboards are really easy to create.  This is one of my favorite projects.  I used Spellbinders die template, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, 7 Gypsies patterned paper, old book pages and Crafty Secrets postcard ephemera. I love the fall feel of it.   

I took 7gypsies patterned paper, traced the clipboard on the backside of the paper and cut out the shape.  Then I applied a medium layer of mod podge to the clipboard and used my brayer to smooth out the paper.  (I stacked a few books and my Wizard on top of the clipboard for about an hour while it dried.)

I sprayed Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to old book pages, edges of the ribbon and edges of the 7Gypsies paper.  I also applied Glimmer Mist to the Crafty Secrets Postcard Ephemera.  I love how thick the postcard is and that it already had adhesive on the back.

Funky Technique I used:  I also sprayed the tree branch with a few layers of Glimmer Mist and then let the buds soak in a puddle of Glimmer Mist overnight on my non stick craft sheet.  I love the depth of color and sheen it created.

Spellbinders die templates I used : S4-227 Pumpkins; S4-213 Fleur De Lis Borderabilities® Petite; S4-219 Nested Poinsettia; I2-1009 Flourish Impressabilities™.

Funky Technique I used:  I love using the Letterpress technique on the Pumpkins die cuts , using The Flourish Impressabilities™ embossing ink and Sparkle N Sprinkle, Copper Embossing Powder and heat setting it. I then cut/embossed with the Pumpkins die template.

My Creation

I had so much fun working with the 8x8 Treasured Family Recipe kit!   I decided to create this album to give as a gift. 

The album provided in the kit is black, which I really love! I use touches of black a lot in my creations, so this was perfect! I layered various pieces of the gorgeous Cosmo Cricket Early Bird paper. I love all things Cosmo Cricket and this line worked so fabulous for a recipe album!

Here's a close up of the cover page. The black album cover has a circle cut out of it for a window effect. I decided to layer some Spellbinders die cuts, as well as the thick Cosmo Cricket chipboard pieces to create a 3D look. Just Rite Stamps work perfectly with Spellbinders die cuts to create a customized/personalized album!

 

I like leaving a bit of the black album pages showing. I also distressed the embellishments and pages throughout the album with Ranger distress ink in walnut stain, and Tsukineko Memento black ink.

I created a pocket for the inside cover, and placed large manila tags inside. One has a “To and From” label and the other has a rolling pin graphic. I love to use tags and distress them to make them looked aged. Page 2 has a journal block that I'll write my dedication note on. The word RECIPE is created with the super thick dimensional letters in the kit.  They coordinate perfectly with the black album.

THE RECIPE:

Ok, so here it is. Rhonda Schmeltzer's to die for Sugar Recipe! Rhonda is my BIL's sister and OMG this woman is an amazing quilt artist from Worland, WY! She shared this recipe with my sister, who shared it with me. These are the softest, most flavorful sugar cookies you will have taste! The are fabulous!!

I included a picture of my sweet Arianna who loves to bake.  The other photo is of Arianna's, Mackenzie's and My hand - after playing in the sugar cookie dough one afternoon.

 

Die cut details - I used Snow Tex on the top portion of the die to create the look of sugar cookie dough. I love how it turned out!

Here's a close up of the “YUMMY” tag.  I used the thick chipboard brackets, and layered in Stickles for a shimmery look to match the sugar cookie dough. Fun!

 
 

I intentionally left these pages blank, so that the gift recipient could add her favorite family recipes!  Isn't that a fun idea to add onto the recipe book?

Here's the Breakfast pages. She can add her favorite cinnamon roll recipe or breakfast burrito's! Yumo :)   Isn't that little toaster tag too cute?

Copic altered wallet

I decided I wanted to alter a wallet to go in my new awesome Paris purse my sister made for me.  I'll be posting that in a few days. :)

I gathered some of my favorite supplies: Spellbinders die templates, JustRite Font stamps, Tim Holtz stamp by Stampers Anonymous and fabric flowers by Heidi Swapp. 

I started wih an $8 white clam shell vinyl wallet.  It was a bit scratched and dirty, so I just knew I had to alter it somehow.  I started by thinking about the theme....it needed to go with a French or Paris theme to go inside my new purse.  I also needed to alter the vinyl with something....but what.....I decided I would use my totally cool COPIC Markers!

I used 3 Copic Markers to color the white vinyl, taking are to try and overlap and blend the colors as best as I could.  Sometime I let the colors set for a few minutes and then applied another layer.  Once  had the look I wanted.  I used a script word stamp with StazOn black ink and stamped on the right 2/3 of the wallet.  Then I sprayed a clear matte finish sealer over the entire wallet and let that dry overnight. 

Next I got out those Ginormous fabric flowers by Heidi Swapp.  I love the white one's, as they are so easy to alter!  I used the previous 3 colors of Copic Markers and added the 4th color.  I altered one white flower with the pink and orange color, making sure that the dark pink was the center and the orange was on the tips, and they were blended mid way down the petal.  I used the same procedure for the dark purple and light purple, which you can see in the above picture.  The Copics worked fabulous on these fabric flowers.

Next I got out 3 colors of StazOn ink and my gorgeous Tim Holtz stamp by Stampers Anonymous.  As you can see in the above picture.  I applied all three colors of StazOn to the stamp.  It gives it a blended look.

First Turn the stamp over, take the lids off the Staz On and ink left hand lower corner with the blue, the middle of the tower in purple and add a smidge of blue on the postage stamp, then use the black n the right hand side of the stamp.  Work quickly so the Staz On doesn't dry completely.

I used StazOn because I stamped my image on a piece of vinyl typed paper. 

I decided to cut out the stamped image using my Spellbinders die template and my Wizard die cut machine. 

Notice how I placed the stamped image face up.  Then I placed the die with the cut edges face down on top of the stamped image and was careful to line it up exactly how I wanted it.  You can always use a piece of re-positional tape to hold the die in place.  Next layer the magnetic spacer place and the other white mat.  Then run it through your Wizard. 

I adhered the layered flowers, stamped image and bling with E6000 industrial strength glue.  I love the stuff and use it all the time.  I also stamped and die cut my monogram "H" with JustRite font Times New Roman in 95pt.  I love their monogram sets.  They are fabulouso!
