This is our new puppy Zuzu!
She is a 3 month old Weimaraner/Labrador Retriever mix. I've been reading up on this type of dog, and interestingly enough people actually mix these two breeds on purpose. It tends to produce a smart, friendly, loving family dog. We are so excited to have her! We got her from the Rochelle Animal Shelter in Rawlins.
We've been watching marathon episodes of the Dog Whisperer Ceasar Milan on National Geographic Channel. That man is amazing. I haven't trained a puppy in 14 years, so I need a refresher course!
Our beloved 14 year old Siberian Husky - Klondyke, died in February of this year, and it has left such a whole in our hearts. We still have our gentle 14 year old female yellow Labrador Retriver - River, who has been sad without her companion as well. The new puppy has been so good for her.
Zuzu has been so easy to train, and so affectionate. She sneeks up on my bed at night and snuggles in. She usually wakes me up by putting her neck on mine just like a pile of little puppies do. We feel so very blessed to have found her.
We named her Zuzu after the little girl named Zuzu in our all time favorite Christmas movie "It's a Wonderful Life".
We watch it every Christmas and remember how thankful we are to have each other. It seemed a fitting name for a beautiful little Christmas puppy.
