Here's one of my favorite cards I've made for Spellbinders. Although I dabble in a variety of scrapbooking and cardmaking styles....this is really my favorite. I like things a bit inked up, blended, distressed and grunged. (Is grunged really a word? lol)
Card making seems to be a bit challenging for me. I'm an altered item and scrapbooking kind of gal. So whenever I make cards, I start with great dies.
Spellbinders has a huge assortment of dies, and I try to find one of my favorites. So, for this card I chose S4-158 Sunflower Set 2 as the first die of inspiration. I also used S5-002 Sunflower Garden , S3-149 Double Ended Tags , and S4-173 Fancy Scalloped Pierceability . One die inspired another and before I knew it, I had used 4 dies on one card.
Notice how I took the center piece out of the largest flower and chalked, smooched and stamped it. Then I placed the center back into the flower for a more distressed look. I also blended 3 colors of fluid chalk ink at the bottom of the card by using the die as a stencil, then using a make up sponge with the chalk ink to blend from dark to light on the embossed area. I also applied Smooch to the edges of the ribbon to make it look more distressed.
I also used several colors of Clearsnap fluid chalk ink. I chose a color palette I liked in a magazine ad. I love how they use different colors and bold patterns. It helps me get out of my comfort zone and experiment with a color or patterns I may not have chosen on my own. I also love to accent die cuts with Smooch by Clearsnap. It has a metallic sheen and is just gorgeous on a card.
The sentiment is Taylored Expressions, the background stamp is by Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous.
Enjoy your day!
